DESCRIPTION:For the 26th year\, the Wisconsin Veterans Museum presents its renowned Talking Spirits Cemetery Tours at historic Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison. “Talking Spirits Cemetery Tours: From Soldiers to Civil Servants” will bring viewers into Wisconsin’s journey through the Civil War and beyond. These tours will feature four vignettes along the route\, as historical actors portray significant Wisconsinites before\, during\, and after the Civil War\, tracing the long history of suffrage and civic responsibility in Wisconsin. Join us for this annual tour. \nEVENT SOLD OUT\, SORRY \nCandlelit Tours\nSaturday\, October 12 beginning at 5pm; last tour leaves at 8pm. \nDaytime Tours\nSunday\, October 13 beginning at noon. Last tour leaves at 4pm. \nTours last approximately 90 minutes.\nThese are walking tours\, dress appropriately.

DESCRIPTION:Talking Spirits XXIII Cemetery Tour 2021: Wisconsin Women at War \nHeld each fall at the beautiful Forest Hill Cemetery in Madison\, this award-winning living history program illuminates the lives of prominent and lesser known-figures in Wisconsin history. This year\, you will learn about four Wisconsin women\, Eulalie C. Beffel\, Jesse Smith\, Elizabeth Park\, and Elizabeth Roach. Local actresses donning period dress will draw you into their stories of service and sacrifice.  During the tour\, guides will walk and entertain you with little-known stories of the people who rest in the cemetery and their contributions to the great state of Wisconsin. Tour fee is $10 per person. While we agree that this change is a disappointment\, the museum staff will present Talking Spirits Cemetery Tours: Myths and Realities through a 360-degree virtual tour of Forest Hill Cemetery on Madison’s near west side. \nClick here to take the tour. All you need to view the tour is internet access\, and a computer\, tablet\, or smart phone; no special applications are required. You can view the tour at any time and as many times as you like. Access is free. \n
