“Somebody Throw Me and Ambien”: Psychopharmaceutical Use as Social Experience and Shared Risk among Soldiers in America’s Post-9/11 Wars.

Presented by: Dr. Jocelyn Chua, Ph.D. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Thursday, March 26, 7:00 — 8:30 p.m.

 

Dr. Jocelyn Chua will present a lecture that examines the marked turn to the use of psychiatric medications by the United States military in overseas deployed settings in the post-9/11 wars. Dr. Chua is a sociocultural medical anthropologist. Her current research explores relationships between war, medicine, and the US military.
