Traditions Exhibit Tours Exclusively for Very Important Veteran (VIV) Groups
We are happy to offer guided tours for veterans of the new exhibit Traditions: Stories of Service to Country & Community. These Very Important Veteran (VIV) Tours are available to veteran groups (American Legion posts, VFW posts, axillary groups, and other veteran-focused organizations) of 10-60 people.
- VIV Tours are available in association with the Traditions: Stories of Service to Country & Community exhibit which is on view March 14- July 6, 2025.
- Tours are free and last approximately 50 minutes.
- Please reserve a date and time at least one week in advance by completing the Book a VIV Tour form on this page.
- Please note: in April and May, tours are limited to Saturday and Sunday afternoons from noon until 4pm to accommodate tours for school-aged children. In June and July, tours are available Thursday through Sunday from noon until 4pm.
- After the VIV Tour, you are free to explore the other areas of the museum on your own or shop in our gift store where veterans always receive at least 15% off purchases.
- Museum hours are Tues - Sat 10 am to 5 pm, Sun (April- September) Noon to 5 pm.
PARKING
Tour Bus Parking
There are currently no areas for bus parking on/around Capitol Square.The City of Madison Parking Division recommends that busses unload/load in front of the museum on West Mifflin Street then proceed to Bowman Park for bus parking (busses must be attended at all times). Please note that bus parking is not within walking distance from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. It is 2.4 miles away.
Directions to Bowman Parking Lots:
- From the museum on W Mifflin St., turn Left on to Carroll St.
- Turn Right on to West Washington Ave.
- Turn Left on to South Park St.
- Take a Slight Right on to Fish Hatchery Rd.
- In .5 miles, Bowman Park is on your left
Automobile Parking
Follow this link to view downtown public parking garages. The State Street/Capitol garage is situated two blocks from the museum. All pay on foot, entry, and exit stations are equipped with a help button which is answered 24/7. Although Wisconsin Veterans Museum strives to provide accurate directions to this parking area, we strongly recommend that you contact the City of Madison for regular updates regarding construction and detours.
