In the above video clip, John Barger, United States Army artilleryman stationed at Schofield Barracks had just gotten off Charge-of-Quarters (CQ) duty and remembers dodging a Japanese Zero strafing him.

John H. Barger of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, served with the 24th Infantry Division artillery in Hawaii and the Pacific Theater during World War II and was stationed at Schofield Barracks during the Pearl Harbor attack. Prior to his Army service, Barger served in the United States Naval Reserves for four years starting in 1935, before enlisting in the Army in 1940. After the war, he opened a business with an Army friend in South Dakota. Barger eventually moved back to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and passed away in 2012.
