Not At Ease: A Veteran Print Project – New Exhibit Opening at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum

(MADISON)Not At Ease: A Veteran Print Project, provides a forum for 20 female veterans from Wisconsin to share their stories by pairing them with 20 artists, who create an edition of prints inspired by the resulting dialogue. These prints will then culminate in an exhibition opening at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum on May 4, 2012- Gallery Night.  The exhibit will be on display until June 30, 2012.

This public forum will serve as an extension of the private forums in which female veterans have agreed to share their stories, as well as highlighting oral history and the Wisconsin Veterans Museum itself. Once the public can encounter these stories, civilians and female veterans alike can come together in a discussion that values the veteran experience and highlights the benefits the state has to offer for them. Dialogue among veterans and between veterans and other community members will foster a more equal environment where one does not yet exist.

Meet the artists of this exhibit on Gallery Night, Friday, May 4, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum.

Questions about the exhibit may be directed to Jennifer Kollath, Curator of Education at (608) 264-7663.
