On August 24th, wounded veterans, first responders, and supporters of the Project Hero’s 2024 Great Lakes Challenge ended their 400-mile bicycle trek at the Wisconsin State Capitol. The group presented an American flag that flew over the Capitol in Washington D.C. to Chris Kolakowski, Wisconsin Veterans Museum Director and Tim LaSage, Wisconsin Veterans Museum Foundation Board Member. The group also shared a jersey signed by all the riders in appreciation of the work the museum and foundation staff do for the veteran community and to acknowledge the many veteran-serving organizations in Wisconsin that make a ride like this possible.
The Great Lakes Challenge was a 400+ mile non-competitive, rehabilitation bike ride to raise funds and awareness for the work of Project Hero. The ride began at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul and ended in Madison.
Project Hero is a national non-profit dedicated to helping veterans and first responders affected by post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and traumatic brain injury (TBI) achieve rehabilitation, recovery, and resilience in their daily lives and increasing awareness to combat the national mental health emergency posed by PTSD and TBI.
