Donate to the Collection
The Wisconsin Veterans Museum will consider for donation military items such as equipment, personal items, and souvenirs, as well as archival material, diaries, letters, photographs, and books where there is a significant tie to Wisconsin. We also would like to collect oral histories of service members.
How to Make a Donation
Thank you for considering a donation to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. Museums have a formal process for evaluating donations, and so we appreciate your understanding and adherence to the steps noted below.
- Please begin the donation process by filling out the form to the right. If you are submitting a photo, please make sure it is less than 1MB.
- After the form is submitted, please wait for the submission acknowledgement at the bottom of the form.
- Once we have your form, we will call or email you back in the order we receive your submissions. Please note this can take upwards of 2-4 weeks.
- Please do not mail or bring items to the museum prior to us contacting you.
All items we evaluate will be accepted on a temporary custody form and will be reviewed for placement in our permanent collection, study collection, or library by a collections committee. Following the decision of the committee, donors will receive a certificate of gift form for items which will be retained. It must be signed and returned to the museum in order to transfer custody to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum.
If you have additional questions or comments about your items you wish to donate, please email us. We appreciate your patience as we process a steady flow of donor inquiries.
