• All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 – Pre-performance Discussion

Overture Center for the Arts 201 State St, Madison, WI

At select performances of “All Is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914” at the Overture Center, Wisconsin Veterans Museum Curator of History Kevin Hampton will lead a pre-performance discussion. He will present the historical context for the WWI Christmas Truce. With shared stories and images from the museum collection complemented by news articles from the period, attendees will gain context to appreciate the performance more deeply. As described by the Overture Center for the Arts, “The Western Front, Christmas, 1914. Out of the violence- a silence, then a song. A German soldier steps into ‘No Man’s Land’ singing Stille Nacht. This begins an extraordinary night of camaraderie, music, peace.  A remarkable true story told in the words and song of the men who lived them.” Mr. Hampton will be leading discussions on the following days: Thursday 12/7 at 6:30 pm Sunday 12/10 at 1 pm Thursday 12/14 at 6:30 pm Learn more here:
