BOOK TALK WITH ALISON EFFORD- A GERMAN FEMINIST AND THE CIVIL WAR: THE PERSONAL AND POLITICAL LIFE OF MATHILDE FRANZISKA ANNEKE

Marquette University professor Alison Efford will discuss her latest work, which focuses on the collection of letters of Mathilde Franziska Anneke who, after moving to the United States, became a noted proponent of woman suffrage, working with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. Like many other refugees of the German revolutions, Anneke was deeply involved in the Civil War.
