Organization  The Thirteenth Wisconsin Infantry Regiment (13th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment) organized at Janesville, Wisconsin and mustered into the service of the United States on October 17, 1861.  They left the state on January 18, 1862, under orders to proceed to Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, which they reached  in early February.
