Please join us for our quarterly dinner series with some of the women servicemembers from the State’s 54th Civil Support Team: Protecting the State from Weapons of Mass Destruction. S.Sgt. Jaclyn Sommers, S.Sgt. Ava Kielisch, and Sgt. Schuylar Hagen will provide an overview of the 54th Civil Support Team’s (CST) capabilities and mission and demonstrate some downrange survey equipment along with a demo chemical lab to show an example of what the 54th CST would encounter on a mission. Live from The Storefront: Veteran Artists Create

Featuring the temporary exhibit, “Wisconsin Was There: Sharing the Legacies of Printmakers Who Served in the Military” and the evening’s program will be our Live from the Storefront Window Series. Iwo Jima was returned to the nation of Japan in 1968, and the U.S. maintained an agreement that veterans or family would be able to visit Iwo Jima anytime they wanted to return. 75 years after the battle, the island is closed. Now, the Iwo Jima Association is the only organization authorized to travel to the island. Jarosz discusses the Battle of Iwo Jima's legacy and how we as Americans can help keep the island open. Please join us for the return of our quarterly ‘Mess Night’ series to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. This event features our popular dinner and lecture, presented by author Joseph Tachovsky. Mr. Tachovsky will be speaking about the formation of a specialized group of Marines and their preparations for the assault on Saipan. Author Joseph Tachovsky describes the creation of "40 Thieves on Saipan." His research into the platoon his father led in the WWII Battle for Saipan unearthed details and stories about this unique Special Operations platoon of Elite Marines. The oral histories of surviving members shed light into how the platoon got their nickname of the "40 Thieves," other nefarious antics, and their role in the Battle for Saipan, D-Day in the Pacific. This book is based on a large collection of materials donated to the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola, Florida. They reveal, among other things, a highly regarded naval officer who sacrificed his career by releasing classified documents to the press and by chasing non-existent conspiracies, pursuits that eventually cost him his career.
