In the above video clip, Charles Imbruglia, United States Navy musician and seaman, recalls sailors trying to cut the lines from the USS Maryland to the USS Oklahoma as the Oklahoma capsized and began pulling over the Maryland.

Charles Imbruglia (1921-2004) served in the Navy during World War II. Imbruglia of Jackson, Wisconsin, served on the USS Maryland and was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Involved in many of the Pacific Island campaigns. After the war, he worked as a bricklayer in Milwaukee and eventually settled in Jackson, Wisconsin. Following service, he was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 288.
