Have fun testing your historical knowledge and join us for virtual trivia night. Sign up as individuals or as a team and go head-to-head with other players. This free event will be based on 3 rounds of trivia, with each round focusing on topics such as: history, pop culture, names and places, events, and fun facts. For this game, we use the Kahoot! app. This app will allow for the multiple-choice questions we ask each round. Simply log onto Kahoot.it the night of the event (either through your mobile device or on a separate browser tab) and we will provide the access code…nothing to download and easy to use. Live from The Storefront: Veteran Artists Create

Featuring the temporary exhibit, “Wisconsin Was There: Sharing the Legacies of Printmakers Who Served in the Military” and the evening’s program will be our Live from the Storefront Window Series. Guest artists will create and discuss their artwork from the museum’s storefront windows. Passers-by can observe and are welcomed into the museum to tour the galleries and chat with the artist. Nearly 160 years ago, the Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery in the Civil War South. Did you ever wonder how that event affected Wisconsin? Join the Wisconsin Veterans Museum for their annual Talking Spirits XXIV: Forest Hill Cemetery Tours to see, hear, and experience how this document changed the lives of future Madisonians and Wisconsinites. Join us for our virtual Drink & Draw events as our Artist In-Residence, Yvette Pino, leads you through a delightful drawing experience inspired by images from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum collection. So gather your supplies, pour yourself a beverage, and bring your artistic energy as we spend the evening together stretching our creative muscles. This event is free of charge, open to anyone who registers, and is suitable for all ages. We will send you a link to join the event after you register. REGISTER HERE Drink & Draw events are a longstanding tradition in the art community where people gather to draw in a welcoming environment without inhibitions. Although the events often coincide with happy-hour style programming, there is no requirement or emphasis on alcoholic consumption. Some of the best attended Drink & Draws are dry and we are just fine with that. BOOK TALK WITH ALISON EFFORD- A GERMAN FEMINIST AND THE CIVIL WAR: THE PERSONAL AND POLITICAL LIFE OF MATHILDE FRANZISKA ANNEKE

Marquette University professor Alison Efford will discuss her latest work, which focuses on the collection of letters of Mathilde Franziska Anneke who, after moving to the United States, became a noted proponent of woman suffrage, working with Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. While we can’t all be together, we can share discussion on major motion pictures that deal with the hardships, humor, and horrors of combat. For October, we will discuss the 2019 film The Outpost. REGISTER HERE Your mission is to watch the movie, which is available from most libraries or on streaming services (we will not be watching the movie the night of the program), while thinking about the discussion questions we will provide you. On October 28, 2022, at 7:00 pm we’ll all meet via Zoom for a discussion led by museum staff. We will cover themes such as conflict, politics, pop culture, the military, and movie-making. After you register, we will email you the discussion questions and a link to join the virtual discussion via Zoom. This event is free and open to the public.
