Join us for our virtual Drink & Draw events as our Artist In-Residence, Yvette Pino, leads you through a delightful drawing experience inspired by images from the Wisconsin Veterans Museum collection. So gather your supplies, pour yourself a beverage, and bring your artistic energy as we spend the evening together stretching our creative muscles. This event is free of charge, open to anyone who registers, and is suitable for all ages. We will send you a link to join the event after you register. REGISTER HERE Drink & Draw events are a longstanding tradition in the art community where people gather to draw in a welcoming environment without inhibitions. Although the events often coincide with happy-hour style programming, there is no requirement or emphasis on alcoholic consumption. Some of the best attended Drink & Draws are dry and we are just fine with that. MOVIE NIGHT VIRTUAL DISCUSSION- THE HURT LOCKER (2008)

Grab some popcorn and a seat in your favorite chair, and join us for a Movie Virtual Discussion with the Wisconsin Veterans Museum Staff. While we can’t all be together, we can share discussion on major motion pictures that deal with the hardships, humor, and horrors of combat. For December, we will discuss the 2008 film The Hurt Locker. REGISTER HERE Your mission is to watch the movie, which is available from most libraries or on streaming services (we will not be watching the movie the night of the program), while thinking about the discussion questions we will provide you. On December 16, 2022, at 7:00 pm we’ll all meet via Zoom for a discussion led by museum staff. We will cover themes such as conflict, politics, pop culture, the military, and movie-making. After you register, we will email you the discussion questions and a link to join the virtual discussion via Zoom. This event is free and open to the public. WISCONSIN VETERANS MUSEUM TRIVIA NIGHT

Join us for our virtual trivia night and test your historical knowledge. Sign up as individuals or as a team and go head to head with other players. This free event will be based on 3 rounds of trivia, with each round focusing on topics such as: history, pop culture, names and places, events, and fun facts. REGISTER HERE For this virtual trivia night, we will be using the Kahoot! app. This app will allow for the multiple choice questions we will use during each round. Simply log onto Kahoot.it the night of the event (either through your mobile device or on a separate browser tab) and we will provide the access code…nothing to download and easy to use. Lots of fun will be had by all and prizes are given to the top 3 players/teams. This program is suitable for all ages. A Closer Look at Operation Allies Refuge & Operation Allies Welcome

In the aftermath of the 2021 Kabul Airport (HKIA) evacuation, the U.S. Military set up processing bases in Italy, Germany, Spain, Qatar, UAE & Kuwait. The more than 80,000 evacuees were then transported to bases stateside (VA, TX, NM, WI, IN, NJ). Two remarkable Veterans – COL Jeff Patton & BG Dan Gabrielli – who were assigned leadership posts at bases in Germany and New Mexico respectively will share their accounts of facilitating the largest airlift in American history. Wisconsin Adjutant General Knapp will share stories and images from Fort McCoy which served as one of the largest processing centers in the country for our Afghan allies. The permanent status of many of these evacuees remains uncertain as the Afghan Adjustment Act continues to be debated in the nation’s capital. Join our very own Chris Kolakowski along with Randal Dietrich of the Minnesota Military and Veterans Museum as they moderate the discussion. This event is free and will be held via Zoom. The 19th annual Wisconsin Veterans Museum Foundation golf outing, sponsored by WPS Health Solutions & U.S. Vet General Contracting LLC, is scheduled for Monday, July 10, 2023. The event will take place at the beautiful course at The Oaks Golf Course in Cottage Grove. Registration includes green fees, a cart with GPS, range balls, tee gifts, lunch and a heavy hors d'oeuvres reception following golf. Competitors will be divided into two separate divisions, allowing contestants the opportunity to compete with individuals in their own age group. Division one will be made up of contestants under 65 years of age. Division two will be contestants ages 65 and older. Winners in both divisions will receive prizes!  All proceeds from this event support educational programs and exhibits at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum. EVENT IS SOLD OUT! These tours will feature four vignettes along the tour route, as historical actors portray veterans’ experiences in Vietnam, as well as the policymakers who brought the war to conclusion, and the important mission of bringing our MIA’s home.
